There be coffee in 'dem hills

2nd December 2006

A few weeks back, as I walked the 100 or so yards to work, I stopped by at Merry England Coffee Shop for a bite to eat. Two bacon butties I ordered (for two people, of course) and a couple of cappuccinos to go. The total came to an almost 8 quid, give or take a few pennies. Pretty expensive for the slop (albeit tasty slop) they give you.

Nevertheless this did not deter me from going in again a couple of weeks later. This time I ordered only the bacon sandwiches. The cost was halved - about £4. This means that the first time around I paid 2 quid (3.9USD) for just one cup of coffee (!!). And that's not the half of it. The coffee I purchased was only medium size, and furthermore was on take out, which is always cheaper in Merry England. Fuck knows what I'd be forking out had I got a large one to drink in! Probably have to remortgage my house.

Subsequently I'd like to announce I am leaving the trade of web design. Apparently coffee is the new brown gold, with little speckly black bits on top; I for one am cashing in before it's too late.

Yeah, coffee is WAY too damned expensive and it is going nowhere but up. :P

I am doing my best to drink drip coffee, but I am just so particular about my caffeinated cup of sunshine.

I live off that instant crap mostly. Tastes like engine oil...

It's because you're drinking cappuccinos Steve, they're charging you £1.50 for the sprinkle of chocolate ;)

Why not ask them why their coffee is so expensive. If they don't give a reasonable answer, boycott them :D

To be quote honest Owen, it doesnt even taste like coffee - just hot, sugary milk with throff and chocolate sprinkles.

Boycotting sounds like a good idea though ;)
