About me and this site
My name is Steve Tucker. I am a web developer and self-confessed U2 fanatic based in the rural town of Huddersfield, England. I design and develop for the World Wide Web and actively practice PHP, CSS, XHTML to web standards, AJAX and DOM.
I am 22 years of age and despite the wisdom which would appear to reside in my eyes I tend to act like a bit of a goof most of the time. My favourite pastimes, bar designing, are eating and sleeping, mixed with a healthy dose of coffee and easy rock music. Despite building e-commerce websites for a living I rarely purchase anything over the internet as I have a distinct lack of trust all sites but Amazon. I also hate soaps, reality TV and pop music, despite being the proud owner of a Gareth Gates autobiography (thanks to my wife's sick sense of Christmas humor).
I've been developing websites since the summer of 2000 and have never received a day’s training in my life – the latter of which I initially regretted but am now rather proud of. I work to W3C web standards, XHTML Strict whenever I can, and enjoy the satisfaction I get from the work I do immensely.
I am currently dabbling heavily in Ajax techniques and often trick myself into believing that I’m more talented than I actually am - a somewhat feeble attempt to dignify all the hours I spend reading books. My day job is that of a web developer. I also own the Huddersfield design company EyePlot Digital. I have a mate called Jay Hands who works with me at Wonkey Monkey and who is also a member of GAWDs. He writes articles for his site Web Design Standards, and I would too if I had a bit more time on my hands. My favourite food is curry and I'd surely be a fat bastard if it wasn’t for my mum, who’s built like a twiglet.
